Server infrastructure virtualization essentially consists of a large powerful computer server running many virtual machine servers within it. The large machine running these virtual machines is called a hypervisor and it carves out portions of CPU, memory and network (typically the VMs connect to a shared storage array for disk provisioning but it can be local from the hypervisor too) to be allocated from it’s central resource pool to each virtual machine so, the hypervisor is a shared environment manages all of it’s hosted virtual machines.
